Sorsogon Delicacies


      Sorsogon is a province of Philippines located in Bicol Region. It is the southernmost province in Luzon and subdivided into 14 municipalities. It's capital is Sorsogon City and borders the province of Albay to the north. Sorsogon is good place to stay and a good place to relax. Sorsogon is a beautiful place and you can find a lot of beautiful places. At the same time, you can find so much unique delicious food here. Here are the examples.

First is SUMAN

       Suman is a rice cake popular in Sorsogon. It is made from glutinous rice cooked on coconut milk, often wrapped in banana leaves or buried palm leaves for steaming. Suman is very popular in Sorsogon during fiestas. Because suman are not easily spoiled and can be eaten during lunch, breakfast, dinner, and even snacks.

Second is KINAGANG



    Kinagang is popular in Sorsogon, exactly Irosin. Kinagang is serve in The Maya Kitchen as appetizer. It is the combination of buko, crabmeat, sliced scallions, and lemon grass, and it is wrapped using banana leaf. It is loved by the Sorsoganon's because it is very delicious and affordable.

Third is PILI
 

  You can find many pili trees here in Sorsogon. We can cook it in different ways. Pili is very popular during meals and it is good to be a so called "pasalubong".

Fourth is PUTO

     Puto is very popular during birthdays and fiestas. It very delicious and easy to made. Puto is a type of steamed rice cake usually serve as snack or as accompaniment to savory dishes such as dinuguan. It is eaten as is or with butter and/ or grated fresh coconut or as a accompaniment to a number of savoury viands. It is mainly serve during breakfast and can be desserts.

Fifth is KALAMAY

    Kalamay which means sugar is a sticky sweet delicacy that is popular in many regions in the Philippines like Sorsogon. It is made of coconut milk, brown sugar, and ground glutinous rice. It can be flavored with margarine, peanut butter, or vanilla. Kalamay can be also eaten alone but it usually used as sweetener for a number of Filipino desserts and beverages.
