Kimi no Mo Nawa (Your Name)


Kimi no Mo Nawa or Your name is a 2016 Japanese animated drama film directed and written by Makoto Shinkai. Your name tells the story of a high school girl in rural Japan and a high school boy in Tokyo who swap bodies. 

Your name is all about:

1. A body swapping fantasy

It is a body swapping fantasy with two teenagers at its hearts. The girl start dreaming herself a boy. And also, the boy begins seeing  himself through the eyes of the female student in a countryside. 

The rest of the movie explores the body-swap and the journey they go on involves time travel. 

2. Mirrors the boy-girl swaps found in old Japanese Tale. 

Many Japanese animated films are presented on the previous years. The movie is inspired by a classic Japanese 12th Century Tale, Torikaebaya Monotagari 

3. Captures the melancholy of the adolescent dream

In your name, the characters wake up from their dreams as each other and the line between reality and dreams constantly blurs. 

The melancholy moment of bleary wakefulness after a dream is a sensation appears in the film.
